Targeting Cancer

A free rehabilitation program for mastectomy patients through the practice of archery

How Archery Helps Cancer Survivors

Archery is more than just a sport. It plays a powerful role in cancer rehabilitation. After breast cancer surgery, many patients experience chest contracture (muscle tightening) and lymphedema (swelling). Studies show that the vibration of the bowstring promotes lymphatic drainage, while drawing the bow helps stretch muscles, reducing tightness and improving mobility.

Benefits of Archery

Archery has many benefits:

  • Recover Arm Mobility
  • Enhance Mental Focus
  • Promote Lymphatic Health
  • Boost Self-Confidence
  • Provide Stress Relief
  • Foster Community

In addition to the physical benefits, archery also boosts mental health. Cancer survivors often feel isolated, but programs like Targeting Cancer helps survivors foster a positive outlook on life, connect with others who share similar experiences, and gain a greater sense of community.

Our program

We participate in tournaments to raise funds for life-saving breast cancer research. This allows friends and family to participate too.

Worldwide

We collaborate worldwide, with chapters in Spain, Uruguay, and France.
